petaled, like the moon.

Fire flowers
curl their toes under
the snakes in my chest

“petaled girl”
for eyes
and their liars

under
the midnight
red and dark lithe
of the moonglow,
molesting but dissociating
arresting and death-shaming

to this body
and mouth alone.

  1. I love your poems but this one is really great. I feel the poem more than understand it. I like that. Bravo!

  2. You make me want to write again.

    “Fire flowers
    curl their toes under
    the snakes in my chest”

    “under
    the midnight
    red and dark lithe
    of the moonglow”

    My favorites.

    This hurts to read:
    “molesting but dissociating
arresting and death-shaming” … and makes me think of some news items I’ve been reading about, of late. A tragic, lifelong torment and abuse.

I love that you’ve created a Medusa-heart here, softened and caressed by (what I perceive as) spider lilies.

    Doesn’t this sound scent-delicious?

I love how many ways this story can be told. It might not be a sad story at all. It may be a poem of enchanted empowerment. Of another M word entirely.

    • Thank you so very much.

“You make me want to write again.” I think this is one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard before as a compliment. I thank you for that and I’m happy that this could inspire you in such a way that it leaves me scrambling my mind for the right words to say to express my gratitude and joy at the extent of your feedback.

I let my emotions guide me in my writing, and I find the story painted here to be a sad and tragic one as well; but it does have a light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂

Thank you again for your lovely feedback. It’s always appreciated.
