I pull her free into the garden;
my son sat at the windowsill while
the salix speaks about to be born,
alone, we were fooled by love’s beguile.
Define maddening, I’ll give you my fantasy
ecstasy; in my valise, a phone was
unplugged. Alone, I was fooled by her beguile
when the salix was about to be born.
I bartered ant death to ant dream,
I wish I never knew its wiles/
its murderous/ salix about to be born
alone, I was fooled by love’s beguile.

I admit, I was exhausted when writing this poem, so I hope I got the rhyme scheme down while playing with the form a little.
